Student Advisory Board
The Office of Climate Action Student Advisory Board (SAB) facilitates communication between the Office of Climate Action and the Rutgers University Student Body. The SAB promotes and advocates for the students' interests with regard to climate action and sustainability at Rutgers. SAB members aim to build a coalition of students whose skills and talents make sustainable changes for the campus and community. The SAB includes undergraduate and graduate students from Rutgers Camden, Health, Newark, and New Brunswick.

Information for Applicants
Student Advisory Board Members will:
- Advocate to the Rutgers Office of Climate Action and university leadership in support of student interests and concerns.
- Serve as liaisons between the Office of Climate Action and student communities.
- Develop collaborative initiatives and events in support of the previous two goals (e.g., hosting a town hall event).
- Participate in monthly meetings via Zoom on the first Thursday of each month, 6:00–7:00 PM, excluding university breaks.
- Contribute additional time between meetings on liaison work (~4-5 hours/month).
- Advocate directly to university leadership and decision-makers on issues that matter to students.
- Get a behind-the-scenes look at Rutgers climate action initiatives and share what you learn with your campus community.
- Connect with students from across Rutgers–Camden, Rutgers Health, Rutgers–Newark, and Rutgers–New Brunswick.
- Optional: Earn one elective credit per semester.
Requirements
- Current undergraduate or graduate student at Rutgers–Camden, Rutgers Health, Rutgers–Newark, or Rutgers–New Brunswick.
- Must be able to participate for both Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters.
- Must be able to attend monthly meetings via Zoom on the first Thursday of each month, 6:00–7:00 PM, excluding university breaks.
Preferred Skills and Qualities
- Commitment to the three core values of Rutgers Climate Action: Climate Justice, Civic Responsibility, and Actionable Scholarship.
- Student leadership experience, or equivalent experience such as organizing, mentoring, or community involvement.
- Positive energy and enthusiasm.
- Willingness to learn and share information with peers.
- Interest in learning from other perspectives.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
