The Newark Climate Action Group will build and promote a culture of sustainability at Rutgers Newark.

Amber Randolph, Senior Vice Chancellor, Newark Chancellor's Office
As Senior Vice Chancellor for Administration and Economic Development and Chief Financial Officer, Amber Randolph serves as a leader and change agent for financial management and planning for Rutgers University-Newark, working collaboratively to develop and implement best practices and cultivating strong professionals throughout the organization, the City of Newark, and the surrounding community. She partners with the Chancellor on administrative leadership matters in addition to coordinating the activities of campus planning and facilities, real estate, information technology, EMS, university parking services, and business and budgetary matters. She also aligns these activities with University goals and objectives as defined by Rutgers’ Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration (EVPFA).
Alexander Gates, Distinguished Service Professor, SAS-N
Alexander Gates is a Distinguished Service Professor and former Vice Chancellor at Rutgers University, Newark. He has been at Rutgers University for 35 years and served as Chair of Earth & Environmental Sciences for 21 years. Dr. Gates earned his PhD from Virginia Tech in Structural Geology with specialization in faulting. He has extensive experience in Geoscience and STEM education especially for students from minority groups underrepresented in STEM. He is the originator, Director, and PI of the statewide Garden State LSAMP program. Gates has served as PI on more than $22 million in external grants and was on $28 million in grants in total. He has run numerous major programs including NSF GK-12, S-STEM, REU and OEDG. He is the author of 9 books and 79 professional papers and has edited 11 professional volumes. Gates has received 25 professional awards.
